Sylvia Hatchell is a former American college basketball coach who was the head coach of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women's basketball team from 1986 to 2019. During her tenure at UNC, she became the winningest coach in Atlantic Coast Conference history. She led the Tar Heels to three Final Four appearances and a national championship in 1994.
Hatchell was known for her fierce competitiveness, strong leadership, and dedication to her players both on and off the court. She was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013 in recognition of her outstanding coaching career.
